Principal's Message

Dear Students,

I extend you a warm welcome to Pune District Education Association's Baburaoji Gholap College, Sangvi, Pune. The college is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University and included under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of the University Grants Commission, New Delhi. In the year 2023-24, the college was accredited by NAAC with B++ Grade. The vision of the college aims at educating and enlightening the minds through quality research and life skills. The mission of the college is "Evolving and Reinventing Knowledge, Skills in an Ethical Mould to Greet the Emerging Times".

With the aim to facilitate higher education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, under the Arts faculty, the college offers B.A. and M.A. in Marathi, English, History, Economics and Political Science. From the year 2024-25, the college has adopted NEP 2020 for all first-year programmes as per SPPU guidelines. Under the Commerce faculty, the college offers B.Com. in Banking and Finance, Cost and Works Accounting and Marketing Management, BBA in Computer Application, Diploma in Taxation Law (DTL), and M.Com. in Banking and Finance and Advanced Cost and Works Accounting. Under the Science faculty, the college offers B.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Computer Science and M.Sc. in Physics, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Botany, Environmental Science and Computer Science.

Under skill-based higher education, the college offers B.Voc. in Fashion Technology, Software Development, Retail Management, Travel and Tourism Management, Beauty Therapy and Aesthetics and M.Voc. in Fashion Technology and Software Development and Management. The college is also running an M.B.A. Distance Learning Programme affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University School of Open Learning. The college has seven Ph.D. research centres in Economics, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, Commerce, English and Political Science. In addition, we also provide UGC-approved vocational courses: Advanced Diploma in Biomedical Instrumentation and certificate courses in Goods and Services Tax (GST), Laboratory Chemist-Rubber, Animation and Multimedia, Agro Tourism and Massage Therapy. In the new era of National Education Policy 2020, the college is totally engaged in establishing and delivering Learning Outcomes-Based Education in professional and non-professional courses along with skill-based vocational programmes.

The college is well equipped with infrastructure and provides all facilities for the personality development of students. The college has an active alumni and placement cell for the community-industry-institute interface and better employability. The ICT-enabled departments and classrooms, well-equipped laboratories and library facilitate virtual as well as offline campus education. The college has facilities like Conference Hall, well-equipped Gymnasium, Open Gym, indoor and outdoor games, playground, botanical garden, canteen and eco-friendly systems like a water harvesting plant, composite pit, Honey Bee plant and solar system. I am very happy to provide you with the best services and facilities like guidance, sports activities, NSS, NCC, Gymkhana, etc. for the overall development of students. The college organizes various curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities/programmes for the holistic development of students. The remarkable activities include village survey, e-content development workshops, value-based educational workshops, national and international webinars, Dnyansetu Vidnyan Prasar Upkram, Science Day, guest lectures, collection and recycling of plastic, programmes on Yoga and Stress Management and research project competitions.

The college is rewarded with grants to enhance research activities, improve teaching-learning activities and inculcate professional skills among students. The college is also a recipient of grants under different schemes like General Development Assistance, Community College and B.Voc. by UGC, DST-FIST and DBT Star College. The college was awarded the first prize for 'Jagar Janivancha' in 2013 and 2014 at the University level by the Government of Maharashtra. The college was also awarded 'Best College' in 2014 and 'Best Principal' in 2019 by Savitribai Phule Pune University. The college was re-accredited with 'B+' Grade by NAAC Bangalore in 2018-2019. In the academic year 2021-2022, the college was awarded the second prize for "Magazine" by Savitribai Phule Pune University. On the occasion of "Bharat Ki Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav", the college was honoured with the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 District Level Puraskar' by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune, for plastic collection.
